1. Why is Vuse just now talking about Sustainability?
   Adult Nicotine Consumers expect sustainability from the products and brands they purchase. We wanted to ensure that Vuse had the right programs and partners in place. These initiatives are just the start of the Vuse journey to become a more sustainable brand.
   
   
2. What ESG actions does Vuse take?
   As a leading vapor brand, Vuse is demonstrating the kind of purposeful behavior expected from leading brands. Vuse's carbon neutrality status is part of our continued ambition to become a more environmentally sustainable vapor brand with initiatives including:

• Cutting single use plastics from Vuse Alto packaging – Vuse has removed unnecessary plastic wrap from its Vuse Alto device and pod packaging. This change keeps approximately 165,000 pounds of plastic out of landfills.¹
• Moving from air freight to sea freight – By moving most of Vuse shipping from air freight to sea freight, Vuse reduced its CO2 emissions by nearly half.²

Carbon Neutrality:

1. What does Vuse mean by carbon neutrality?
   For Vuse, carbon neutrality refers to achieving net zero carbon emissions by offsetting the gross carbon emissions for Vuse Alto during its life cycle.
   
   
2. What is a carbon offset?
   Carbon is a characteristic of greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon offsets generally relate to reductions from other actions designed to capture carbon, like tree planting, methane capture, and other actions. Offsets, or credits, may be purchased in the marketplace and traded to businesses in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint. One carbon credit is equivalent to one metric ton of carbon dioxide.
   
   
3. How did you calculate how many carbon offsets to purchase?
   We performed a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for Vuse Alto. An LCA is a methodology for assessing the carbon impact and associated environmental impact for a product through all stages of its lifecycle—from material pre-processing and manufacturing, to distribution, use, and disposal. The LCA for Vuse Alto was prepared in accordance with ISO 14044: 2006 Environmental Management – Life Cycle Assessment – Requirements and Guidelines, which is the leading international standard on life cycle assessments. The Vuse Alto LCA was calculated, assured, and validated by independent third parties.
   
   
4. What are your carbon offsets supporting?
   Vertis, who is one of the one of the first companies in the world to be involved in carbon markets, used the assured LCAs and data to broker investment in carbon credits, including a tree planting project in Uruguay covering land where intensive cattle grazing has eroded soil and degraded land. In addition to removing carbon dioxide and delivering better soil quality and biodiversity, the project will also result in increased availability and quality of employment opportunities.

Air to Sea Freight:

1. Do you still ship product via air freight?
   Yes. Sometimes we need to ship products via air to meet adult nicotine consumer demands. However, we do our best to minimize this shipping method. By moving most of our shipping from air freight to sea freight, we reduced our CO2 emissions by nearly half.³
   
   

Vuse Unwrapped:

1. Why did you remove the outer wrap from the Vuse Alto packaging?
   By removing the outer wrap from our Vuse Alto packaging, we reduced the use of our single-use plastics. This change will keep approximately 165,000 pounds of plastic out of landfills.⁴
    
2. Will the removal of the outer wrap impact the quality of my Vuse Alto product?
   No. Vuse Alto pre-filled pods are still packaged in individual blister packs to maintain quality.
   
   

3. I thought the outer wrap was to help identify tampering; is Vuse Alto packaging still tamper evident?
   Yes. Vuse Alto pods come in blister packs that are tamper evident. In addition, Vuse Alto pod packs are glued shut to help identify tampering and Vuse Alto power unit packaging incorporates a tamper evident seal.
