E-cig vs Vape: What's the difference? | Vuse Vapor

It just might be one of the most common questions in the industry. Is there a difference between an e-cig and a vape? And if so, what is it? 

TL;DR—They're very similar and often used interchangeably, but there are a few small differences. This article highlights those differences and where each is best suited.

What is an E-cigarette?

E-cigarettes (aka e-cigs or cigalikes) are battery-powered devices that work by heating a liquid into an aerosol that you inhale and exhale. They are often small devices, and typically engaged by inhaling or pressing a power button on the device. Within seconds, the battery heats the coil to vaporize the e-liquid. 

E-cigarettes are popular among (adult 21+) vapers because they don't have many parts, which means setup and maintenance is simple. They may have disposable or rechargeable batteries, and they feature disposable e-liquid cartridges, which reduce the hassle of refilling tanks.

E-cigarettes are ideal if you want low-cost, convenient vaping devices. They require little maintenance and no refill, so it's as simple as replacing the e-liquid cartridge and charging the battery.

What Is a Vape?

A vape refers broadly to any vaping device, including e-cigarettes. Some vapes, like ones with refillable tanks, can offer a wider range of features and customizations than e-cigarettes. However, that can also mean more complexity and maintenance.

Vapes work just like e-cigarettes—they have a heating coil that's powered by the battery and vaporizes the e-liquid in the device. But some vapes have a refillable tank to hold the e-liquid (instead of a disposable pod). When the tank runs out on those devices, you need to refill the tank with more e-liquid (as opposed to simply inserting a new disposable pod).
